Nearly had an accident . Not surprising, considering today

----Trust lock----

My day began at the lovely hour of 00:55 AM, with an SMS from my superiors urging every worker to come earlier to work, volunteer for a shift, and so on.

Following the publication of a large fraud (see link: http://www.haaretz.co.il/captain/net/1.1607906), my workplace had entered a crisis mode.

I work at Israel's second largest credit company, Leumi card, in a department which deals with blocking lost/stolen cards, assisting people who had passed their credit limit and yet are in an urgent need of a transaction, and assisting tourist abroad with various problems. As most of those problems require immediate handling, our objective is no waiting time.

Well and good. On normal days, there is indeed almost no waiting time. Today, however, due the the panic that had spread immediately after the advertizing, our department had nearly collapsed. At 7:30, we've had 60 calls on hold, which means a waiting time of almost 10 minutes. An unbearably long time for people who're frightened enough already.

I am extremely sensitive to people's emotion. When I sense that a person is in distress I usually empathize quite strongly. So the combination of stress, distressed and agitated people, (who tended to shout at me as an outlet for their distress) and long hours with almost no break was very hard.

So, today was Not Fun, to say the least. By 9 AM, I had a vicious migraine. Which had gotten steadily worse. By end of the day (17:00) I've reached nausea-level of pain and dizziness. And I could not bear to talk.

I was supposed to go to therapy today. But after 10 minutes I quit. Could not handle it today. I feel lousy for it, but there it is.

So I went home, and on the way back I've missed a red traffic light and crossed a road. And nearly had my ass shaved as a result.

A favor please - if you see a spelling mistake I've missed or glaring grammar mistakes, holler . I read my posts over before uploading them, and will today as well, but I am truly too tired to see straight.

ETA 21:22: So my period decided today is a good day to come. Joy...

For the record, I don't think that this is a good idea, but.

* Crises Crisis
* advertizing advertising (wrong word entirely, in my opinion: "advertising" is פרסומת, not a more netural פרסום)
* distress,I usually empathy distress, I usually empathize
* Buy By
* strait straight
* howler holler (this is a really amusing one, though)

Also, i'd like to note that any reasonable person would've responded this way to the hell that was your work conditions today. It was just a fucked-up situation, and wanting to cry and curl up in a corner and having a migraine are perfectly normal reactions that have absolutely nothing to do with any specific conditions you have. (Which are, in themselves, not your goddamned fault either.)

Your decision regarding today's therapy session was also reasonable. You were in too much acute distress, and the priority was to handle that - precisely so it doesn't get out of hand and so as to enable the handling of long-term issues. It was a good, justified call and the best that could be done. Give yourself major brownie points for trying, and a pat on the shoulder for making the right call.

With the exception of "advertizing," the words you used are all perfectly existing and well-spelled words - they're just not the words you meant. Spell-check wouldn't have caught any of these; a dictionary would've, but then running every single word you use through the dictionary is not a viable option.

Still, I think that if you weren't running a 12hr shift from hell on not nearly enough sleep, you would've at least caught on the different between "buy" (לקנות) and "by" (מילית יחס), or remembered that "crisis" is the singular and "crises" is the plural (and a very rare word which i've neve seen anyone but me use).

"Howler" is damn funny, but I don't think you want anyone to send you magical explosive shrieking red envelopes, so.
