Naming a problem is the first step in dealing with it

My SO had got me to admit that it's I, actually who is the worst Mother Hen between us three. (I was compering myself to [profile] antongaru and to Hagar-both of them are First Class mother hens. Each in his or her own way.

But one thing I do which they do not.

If I know that [profile] antongaru or Kitten are unhappy, feeling ill, or miserable for any reason - for the matter of fact, if I know that any one I care for is in this condition, and I can't do anything to help - I start freaking out and eating myself with guilt. And that's not helping anyone. I am willing to give my 1oo% to help when I can, and I do so whenever I can. So, what's the use in eating yourself up when you can't help?

Sitting back and not trying - that's maybe one of the hardest things for me. But acknowledging this is a problem - is the first step to dealing with it and containing it.
